Canada's AI Supercluster had an event...
The ALL IN AI conference in Montréal & rock music. Like peanut butter and chocolate.
Just back from Montréal where Scale AI, Canada's AI supercluster, held its sophomore event, ALL IN. They did a great job curating powerhouses in the field, from Yoshua Bengio, to Sasha Luccioni (my pod with her here from last year), to Canada's Innovation minister François-Philippe Champagne, corporates, and startups.
I hosted the Talks stage where really broad and thoughtful conversations took place focusing primarily on where the AI rubber meets the road. What stood out for me were the talks on AI gender bias, based on this report (FR); how you actually measure the investment in AI; and this company, EarthDaily, that has satellites that scan the earth every day with multiple light frequencies so you can detect changes in near realtime. 🤓
Oh yeah, and we had two AI challenges where I ripped my sweater off and did handstands and threw out T-shirts to rock music and smoke machines, as one does. 🤘
What I liked about this year is that it felt like the event was starting to really find its voice in catalyzing all the key players as evidenced, to me, by the density of the entrepreneurs as well as the cross-pollination across the different stakeholders.
Quick Ask
Like last week, one quick ask: we're busy recruiting guests and expect to launch ASAP, but if you know of any investors or entrepreneurs outside of Canada who are building their tech companies differently (getting off venture, late to get on to venture, bootstrapping, solopreneur, etc.), send them our way!
